1. The successive promulgation of laws and regulations on VOC emission reduction

Currently, 95% of furniture manufacturing in China still uses traditional solvent based coatings (such as PUPENC). Calculated based on 1.3 million tons of wood coatings in 2013, the total amount of VOCs emitted into the air exceeds 600000 tons, causing serious pollution to air quality. In recent years, governments at all levels have introduced a series of regulations and systems aimed at the transformation and upgrading of the painting industry, especially in the Pearl River Delta, Yangtze River Delta, and surrounding areas of Beijing. They have also issued a series of standards for upgrading processes or mandatory relocation in the furniture manufacturing industry. This is an important strategic transformation choice facing the entire furniture manufacturing industry.

2. The challenge of rising labor costs

In recent years, the entire furniture manufacturing industry has faced intensified competition both domestically and internationally. The labor costs in some Southeast Asian countries are only one-third of those in China. Traditional European and American furniture manufacturing enterprises, due to their advantages in design, branding, and coating automation, have experienced overcapacity and intensified homogeneous competition in domestic furniture manufacturing enterprises, ultimately leading to a continuous deterioration of the industry ecology and causing many well-known enterprises to suffer losses or go bankrupt in recent times. How to solve the business pressure of young labor no longer willing to engage in high pollution traditional furniture manufacturing work and the annual increase in labor costs under the new situation has become a difficult choice for all furniture manufacturing enterprises.

3. The challenge of improving production efficiency

In recent years, the rapid development of customized home furnishing industry has posed requirements for traditional furniture manufacturing industry on how to quickly meet terminal needs. Optimizing the design and manufacturing processes and improving coating efficiency are necessary to meet the new market competition demands.

4. Opportunities for applying environmentally friendly and efficient coating processes

If a coating solution that meets environmental protection and high efficiency (low VOC emissions, low physical harm, can be completed in one day or a few hours) is implemented, it may achieve true industrial upgrading and win new development opportunities in future competition.

The selection of environmentally friendly coatings: single or combined solutions of water-based, water-based UV curing, solvent-free high solid UV, powder coatings, and other high solid coatings can achieve low VOC emissions; At the same time, high solid UV coatings can achieve energy-saving coating (compared to water-based and powder coatings);

Efficient coating: The most advantageous feature is UV coating (a single coating can be completed in just a few seconds), which can also achieve efficient coating with suitable drying conditions.
